At around 11:50 a.m., they made their way back down the trail. No worries, there are rest stops along the way. On Thursday morning, additional search and rescue members reached the body and hoisted it back up to the top of the trail using a high-angle rescue litter. The descent down the Bright Angel Trail is 10.5 miles and will take approximately 5 hours. The search and rescue team, along with a deputy, spent the night at the top of Angel’s Rest. Due to the terrain conditions, they were not able to recover the body on Wednesday. The search and rescue team was activated to retrieve the body.
